Godless Ads on Portland Buses

"Are you good without God? Millions are."

These words were part of a coordinated multi-organizational advertising campaign designed to raise awareness about people who don't believe in a god. The ad appeared on ten buses traveling throughout the city. Their appearance began on November 16 and  continued for about a month. The ads were sponsored by the Portland Coalition of Reason (Portland CoR). Read the press release for more information.

The Portland Coalition of Reason is a collection of non-theist groups (including United States Atheists) in and around Portland, Oregon. On November 16, 2009, Portland CoR launched a media campaign on TriMet buses.

Turnout Dismal for "Bible Reading Marathon" During National Day of Prayer
The spokesman for the event was Jeff Gannon, best known as the conservative White House correspondent who lost his post after it was revealed that he posted nude pictures of himself on the Web, offering his services as a $200-an-hour gay escort. Some Republican Presidential Candidates Deny Evolution
At least three men running for president of the United States don't believe in evolution. This was revealed during the Republican presidential debate held on May 3 in California. When a reporter asked if any candidates didn't believe in evolution, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Sam Brownback and Rep. Tom Tancredo all raised their hands to indicate their rejection of the foundation of modern biology. Sen. "There are always new reports about Muslims using IEDs to terrorize and kill Americans in Iraq, but now we have a case of Christian terrorists using IEDs to terrorize and try to kill Americans in Texas — at an abortion clinic, to be specific. Army Officer On Pat Tillman's Death: Atheist Are "Worm Dirt"
Lt. Col. Ralph Kauzlarich, who conducted the first investigation into the death of Pat Tillman comments to a reporter "When you die, I mean, there is supposedly a better life, right? Well, if you are an atheist and you don't believe in anything, if you die, what is there to go to? Nothing. You are worm dirt. So for their son to die for nothing, and now he is no more — that is pretty hard to get your head around that. So I don't know how an atheist thinks.
